Editorial Review: Tales from the Vine: Juicy Tomatoes Talk About Being Female, Over Fifty, and in Full Bloom Juicy Tomatoes introduces you to a group of women who will happily plead guilty to being female and over fifty. That's because they know that being a fifty-plus woman means having wisdom, passion, and savvy to spare, and that the second half of life can be just as fun and fulfilling as the first. They've seen through the myths that say an over-fifty woman can't have good sex or a new career and they've forged ahead despite societal pressure to quietly step down. These juicy tomatoes are redefining what it means to be a woman over fifty and blazing a trail that promises to change the culture and the lives of those green tomatoes who come after them. Juicy Tomatoes is a refreshing and revealing look at how women meet the challenges and embrace the opportunities that come with age. These stories from life beyond fifty are funny, poignant, inspiring, and unflinchingly honest.

Good News About Turning 50 and Beyond, 2006-09-27
****
This was a great little book (200 pages, 7.5" x 5.5" book)! It consists of chapters with various themes (e.g., "Up with Menopause") filled with short experpts of women's opinions and then text/commentary about them.
It is a small book packed with a lot of wisdom, though. If you're feeling down about turning 50, or feel like life is getting more limited rather than expansive, this is the book for you. Or, if you're aging and not liking it, this is also the book for you. I thought it was wonderful; it made me excited about going through menopause.
It's an easy, fun read that will even appeal to non-readers because of the format. It also would make a terrific gift!

Seemed like a reprint of a bulletin board, 2006-07-19
The book was primarily a reprint of short quotes grouped together by subject. There was no summary information or analysis. I stopped reading half way through. Very boring!

Juicy humor, 2001-02-05
Susan Swartz combines optimism, humor, and reality in ways few people manage. Sure, menopause signals the end of a phase of life, AND it opens new doors. Her numerous interviews reveal about every possible take on this unavoidable part of life, from women in all walks of life. A great gift for a friend who's there, or almost there.

For me and all my "juicy" friends., 2001-01-13
Three weeks ago I heard the author on the radio and went out and bought the book. Ten pages later I went to Amazon.com and bought 5 copies for friends. Today I am ordering 3 more. I even recommended it to my therapist!

Some times it's ok to be inviiable, 2000-12-09
My sister, who is older, sent me this book. I wanted to cry with appreciation. I could never put in words the feelings that I had inside untill I read this book. We are all special no matter what our age. With youth comes beauty, but the beauty that women of a certain age have, comes from confidence and wisdom. This book only confirms what I knew deep inside all the time.
